Give us a brief account of yourself and your qualifications to hold office. 

My name is Mike Beyer running for Mayor of Rockford. I have lived in Rockford for the past 40 years. I have been a member of the Rockford Fire Department for the past 30 years and am still active. I recently retired from Menards in Buffalo after 19 years. 

I previously served four years on the City Council, and twelve years as the Mayor of Rockford. I was Mayor when the times were good, and Rockford was growing and was Mayor during the 2008 and 2009 recession. I was diligent with the budget when it came to what our taxes would be. Every year I would go through the next year's budget line by line. I did this because the taxes requested affected me too. 

My devotion to Rockford and willingness to put in the time again for the city along with the Fire Department is a part of me. 

Why have you chosen to run for office? 

With my past experience I feel the I am the most capable candidate in handling any business that needs to be addressed in what is best for Rockford. I have always been approachable as the mayor in the past. Every decision that was made did not make everyone happy because I was always looking out for the majority of the residents in Rockford not just a few. 

What do you feel are the chief issues that will face our residents during your term in office? 

What are your goals if you are elected? 

At this time, I do not have an agenda that I am running on. I feel you make a decision that is best for Rockford after you get all the information.
