Lion Templin
City Council Candidate
Give us a brief account of yourself and your qualifications to hold office.
Hello! I am just a business consultant; my work comes with a lot of common skills in my field, like financial acumen, long-term planning, regulatory compliance, and teamwork. I have a science and engineering background that drives me to do things the best way possible. I grew up in the woods of northern Minnesota and came to Greenfield for that balance of living a quiet life on forested acreage and the more urban needs of work, just like a lot of us in Greenfield.
Why have you chosen to run for office?
I was asked to by a member of the city council – there’s a potential for a change in direction in Greenfield with a change in the council and I want to make sure Greenfield stays the way I came out here for: beautiful rural rolling hills, forests, fields, and lots of open space.
What do you feel are the chief issues that will face our residents during your term in office?
Greenfield is a special place: it has access to the city without being the city. That’s a choice that was made long before me and it’s up to us to keep that rural homestead feel going. The city is coming this way from Plymouth, Corcoran, and Maple Grove. But we don’t have to go that way.
What are your goals if you are elected?
Do my best to keep Greenfield the way it is: rural residential. To keep our city as a pastoral serene landscape set aside from the reaches of the city. To keep Greenfield safe so families can play outside anytime. And to keep taxes reasonable.
What, if anything, would you change if elected?
The Greenfield Comprehensive Plan is our guideposts that reflect our community’s wishes: I intend to follow that, including keeping to the 1 home for 5-aces rule. Your own well, your own septic, your own property.
What, if any, email should we use for community members to reach out to you with questions?
