Ben Vandeputte

City Council Candidate

Give us a brief account of yourself and your qualifications to hold office. My wife and I have been Greenfield residents for 20 years, we have 4 children, 10,15,17 & 27 along with 3 grandchildren.

I have held a seat on parks commission for 10 years, currently the acting chairperson, since then I have been engaged with our city’s process, my involvement has included challenging decisions and ideas to be brought in front of council, for the benefit of the City of Greenfield Park.

Growing up on a farm in rural Southwestern, MN, along with 30 plus years in civil construction has given me what I feel is the tools to be an excellent candidate for our city council, my whole life has been working within the constraints of budgets, planning, outside the box thinking along with getting the job done, I feel this brings a lot to the table.

Why have you chosen to run for office?

I believe planning for the growth Greenfield is the key; while working to create a robust commercial area will help preserve our rural character, planning will keep Greenfield a great place to live and call home.

What do you feel are the chief issues that will face our residents during your term in office?

I believe the largest issue facing our residents is the future of Greenfield, can we find a way to maintain the rural character of the area while growth is happening all around. Focus on the growth of Greenfield and expanding our commercial base.

What are your goals if you are elected?

If elected, my goals will be to work with local and new business to create a robust commercial area, efficient planning while maintaining good spending practices.

What, if anything, would you change if elected?

The Residents and Business’s that call Greenfield home will have a voice with me, Spending/Budgets always seem to be at the top of everyone’s list, I will work to maintain the proper budget for the city operate while looking for ways to save.

What, if any, email should we use for community members to reach out to you with questions?
